The space

Periwinkle is a beautiful old cottage which has been fully refurbished throughout.

It is quirky due to the age of the property which is why we fell in love with it, please bear in mind the cottage is on the high street in the village so we would advise you that you will experience some road noise however we have recently fitted secondary glazing.

Also parking is not available immediately outside the cottage, it’s important to point this out however on street free parking is available close by on either end of the village high street. Any questions that you may have please message us and we will try to respond as soon as possible.

Guest access

All space in description is for the guests full use and enjoyment.

Other things to note
  • We are Happy to accept one dog at the cottage ,we would ask that your pet does stay downstairs, there is an extra fee at booking checkout of £30 required.
  • We do not provide logs for the log burner, however these can be sourced from several stores locally please ask for details
Around the cottage
  • Beautiful village setting with a local pub, River Esk and riverside cafe.
  • Train station within walking distance.

A cosy home, with beautiful views of the abbey and everything we needed to have a relaxing weekend away. A short walk into the town which we loved.

Me, my husband and two young children had a wonderful stay at the cottage which was lovely, clean and cosy. The kids were delighted with the Yorkshire goodies! It wasn’t really warm enough to sit outside but the back garden was beautifully done and would be lovely in for an evening drink on a warmer evening.
We loved the location – it was about 30 minutes walk into Whitby & a nice, easy walk, close to Sandsend Beach and Falling Foss.
Deb called beforehand and talked through lots of helpful tips on where to visit and how to get there. We were sad we’d only booked two nights. Highly recommend!

Perfect stay. Everything we needed. Location was fantastic, 25 minute walk into Whitby along the river and so central for all other places. Great pub down the road, butcher opposite for breakfast. The road is noisy and busy but we knew this when booking and ear plugs are available so didn’t bother us. The courtyard out back is perfect in the sun at the end of the day. Very low ceilings and doors which we are not used to so a few bumped heads!.. but I guess this adds to cottage character. Host Debs was brilliant with recommendations and instructions for check in etc. We would definitely stay again. It was a little treasure of a find!

The cottage was exactly as described and location is perfect to get to Whitby! Even though there is no parking directly outside we found it easy to park and it is on a main road but this didn’t bother us at all and didn’t affect our sleep etc. The house has a lovely enclosed back space which was perfect for us/our dog and the kitchen had everything we needed. All in all, a great stay!

Really enjoyed our stay, locals very friendly, Deb was very helpful and gave a great selection of recommendations for walks and restaurants in Ruswarp and Whitby. House extremely comfortable and had everything one would need. Comfortable beds, nice hot shower. Nothing not to like! Book without hesitation. We may well be back. Thank you.

What a lovely little treat to spend a sunny autumn weekend at Abbey View. There was indeed a clear view of the Abbey from both the sitting room and bedroom windows. The premises were tucked away and hard to find initially, but once we’d arrived it became easy. Everything was clean, with a well-equipped kitchen, cosy sitting room and bedroom, and bathrooms you felt at home in. Several local recommendations from Deb were really helpful, namely to try out the new Tide restaurant, and a reminder that the trusty Cosa Nostra is also a good bet. We enjoyed both. And don’t foget to find the Arch and Abbey ale bar … lovely venue with friendly staff and guests.

We recently stayed at Abbey View Cottage and had a fantastic time! The location was perfect, just a short stroll from the town centre, making it easy to explore local shops and restaurants.
The apartment was clean, beautifully furnished and felt very cozy. The kitchen was fully equipped.
We especially appreciated the stunning views of the illuminated Abbey from the balcony area / living room.
The host was incredibly helpful, providing recommendations for nearby attractions.
Overall, it was a comfortable and relaxing stay, and I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking to enjoy Whitby.

We had a lovely stay at Deb’s place as 4 adults and 1 dog.
Before we arrived we received a call telling us all about the property and local area, which was really helpful.
On arrival, access was easy, we found the place to be spotless and a great place to relax after a busy day out. Deb thought of everything from leaving extra amenities like hair straightener and luxury soaps to great snacks in the kitchen.
Whitby is walkable from the property, although if you prefer to drive it’s only a 5 minute drive.
A very enjoyable and relaxing stay. Highly recommend!
